STATE STREET RESEARCH & MANAGEMENT COMPANY NAMES DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS



BOSTON, MA, April 30, 2001 - State Street Research & Management Company namedDavid C. Reilly, CFA, Director of Institutional Marketing Communications.The announcement was made by Christopher C. Abbott, Executive VicePresident, and Head of Institutional Marketing and Client Service Group. Reilly, as Director of Institutional Marketing Communications, will beresponsible for developing and implementing all communication programs forthe firm's institutional clients, consultants and prospects.

"David brings a depth of experience in management and investment to thisposition. He is a team player and will provide both tactical and strategicinsight to the communications function," stated Abbott. "His experiencewill aid in setting the vision for our marketing communications team andworking on the successful prioritization of all we need to do to support ourclients, consultants, prospects and other business partners."

Reilly joins State Street Research & Management Company from PrudentialInvestments where he was Senior Vice President, Director of InvestmentCommunications. Reilly has also held positions as a Vice President andPortfolio Manager at Eaton Vance Management and Vice President and SeniorFixed Income Analyst at Scudder, Stevens & Clark. He has a B.A. fromSkidmore College in New York and received his CFA designation in 1987.
