Summer traveling in class with money and style

By Dian Vujovich

It’s that time of year again when school is almost out, vacation  almost in and the stock market on a tear or one sort or another. I’ll begin with the market and then move on to travel.

There’s no getting past the fact the S&P 500 has had a heck of a good year. Fingers crossed that  rush continues. But until the future becomes the past, here’s something worth remembering: Friday, May 24th  was the 100th stock trading day of this year. According to BTN Research, there have been 62 days this index thus far has closed up and 38 days in which it  closed down.  That’s a delightfully positive split and one that’s much better than the 50-year average of 53 up and 47 down days.

As for  travel, we all know that traveling coach is a no-no unless you absolutely positively must. The inches between rows is smaller than ever, the aisles narrower too, the size of seats smaller and your seatmates larger. It’s ugly and makes we wonder why on earth we put up with coach class travel that so cattle car-ish.

Fortunately, there’s are business and first class seating to choose from. Yes, ticket costs are higher but on any international flight  they’re  worth every C-note more.

Foxnews.com just published a list of the top 10 business class airlines. In each one you’ll find the food delightful, leather seats wide, comfy and converting to bed-like.

Here’s the Fox lineup beginning with No. 1: Air New Zealand Business Premier; Delta Air Lines BusinessElite; Emirates Airlines; Etihad Airways Pearl Business Class (Abu Dhabi’s national airline); LAN Airlines Premium Business; Qantas Airways International Business; Oman Air; Singapore Airlines; Thai Airways Royal Silk Class; and Virgin Atlantic Upper Class.

So why not spend the money that the  market has so generously provided and travel well. But wherever you go, please don’t behave like the Chinese. They reportedly now have the worst travel etiquette in the world doing all sorts of tasteless and disgusting things in public. (That story at: http://tinyurl.com/pxw2nug )
